Construction Update WIS 20: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE WIS 20-We were able to snag a traffic control crew a day early and they have been working removing equipment and preparing to reopen WIS 20. The crew should be completed with their work in the next few hours and then WIS 20 will be reopened from East Troy to Waterford!Thank you all for your patience and understanding as this was a lengthy project and a lot of work to get done!

Construction Update WIS 20

Hello,

 

Things are moving along on WIS 20. Now with County ES open, hopefully things are a little easier for everyone to get around – especially with all the events this weekend in East Troy.

 

Stage 3 Forecast: on/around June 5th

As of today, we are looking to move into stage 3 around June 5th. Stage 3 is where we move all the traffic to the new lanes we are currently building and start working on where traffic is now. The I-43 SB Entrance and the I-43 NB Exit ramps will re-open and we close the I-43 SB Exit and I-43 NB Entrance ramps. There will be new detours set up for the ramp closures.

 

The other change in Stage 3 is WIS 20 will be closed to local traffic only from County L in East Troy, to WIS 83 in Waterford. There will be hard closures of WIS 20 at the Walworth/Racine County Line due to the retaining wall construction along Honey Creek and the CN Railroad replacing their crossing on WIS 20.

 

Once into Stage 3, there will be no initial changes to access for County ES or County L. Both of those roads will have specific closures later this summer that will be similar to the south leg of County ES.

 

More details on the Stage 3 configuration will come out next week as we begin to finalize the dates.

 

Information on the other WisDOT project up on I-43 from US 12 to WIS 83 is below:

Another project is slated to being west of East Troy that will detour traffic using WIS 20 – US 12 between Elkhorn and WIS 20. This new project cannot start until we move into Stage 3 on WIS 20 in East Troy as they need the I-43 ramps that are currently closed for their detour traffic.

WIS 20/County ES Work

 

Traffic:

  1. Access to Dollar General is available by using the median opening by McDonald’s/Shell and using the WIS 20 EB lanes to get to their driveway.

 

This Week:

  1. Finished HMA paving
  2. Started aggregate shoulder placement
  3. Topsoiling behind the curb

 

Next Week:

  1. Begin guardrail installation
  2. Continue restoration efforts
  3. Begin signing

 

WIS 83 Work – Waterford

 

WIS 83 Traffic:

  • All shouldering work was completed yesterday and WIS 83 is now completed!
